Former Air Force engineer and instructor, Clint Armani, joins Boyce College faculty as professor of mathematics

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP) — Boyce College announces the appointment of Clint Armani to the faculty, a distinguished former Air Force engineer and instructor at the Air Force Academy. Armani will serve as associate professor of mathematical sciences, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the institution.
“I have admired this institution, its faculty and its students for many years,” Armani said. “It was indeed the work of the Lord to bring me here after my military career and to now make a way for me to join this faculty. Boyce College is the perfect place to continue my love of learning and for me to help our students explore many ways that Christ upholds the universe by the word of His power. Mathematics and science are explicit examples of this biblical truth, and I am committed to this biblical worldview. I am thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to join this faculty.”
Dustin Bruce, Dean of Boyce College, is excited to welcome Armani and believes his combination of experience and convictions are perfectly suited for Boyce College.
“Clint Armani undergirds his considerable academic expertise with a firm conviction that mathematics is reflective of God’s created order,” Bruce said. “He typifies the Boyce College commitment to bring a Christian worldview to bear on every subject, and I am thrilled for him to join our faculty.”
Armani earned his Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 2000, became a graduate in flight test engineering in 2004, and earned his Ph.D. in aeronatical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2011. He has served as an academic and flight test engineer instructor at the Air Force Test Pilot School and assistant professor of mathematical sciences at the Air Force Academy. Since 2020, Armani has also served as an adjunct professor of mathematical sciences at Boyce College. Armani will continue to serve as director of institutional analytics at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College while taking on this new role.
Along with earning numerous awards, honors and medals, Armani has been published in several academic journals and helped develop curricula at the highest levels of education.

Deanna Rogers to join College at Southeastern English faculty

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) and The College at Southeastern announce the hire of Deanna Rogers to The College’s English faculty. She will begin teaching composition and upper-level English courses this fall.
“Dr. Rogers is a tremendous addition to our faculty,” commented Provost Scott Pace. “Her academic credentials and years of experience will ensure that our students are thoroughly equipped to fulfill their calling. Perhaps more importantly, her strong biblical convictions and her desire to personally invest in students will ground them in the truth and help them grow in their faith.”
Rogers received her Master of Arts in English from Clemson University and her Ph.D., in English with a concentration in composition and rhetoric from the University of South Carolina.
“My passion is for teaching, and it is such a blessing to have the opportunity to teach in a college and with faculty and students who desire to serve the Lord and who pursue knowledge so that they can share the gospel with others,” said Rogers.
“I have felt God’s hand guiding me every step of the way to join the Southeastern English department. My father was pursuing his MDiv at Southeastern and my parents lived on Rice Circle in married student housing when I was born. My dad used to carry me on his shoulders on walks around campus and around Paschal Golf Course. So, to come back to Southeastern now as faculty seems like a beautiful closing of the circle,” said Rogers.
While Rogers has childhood ties to Southeastern’s campus, she also has previous experience teaching as one of The College’s adjunct English faculty from 2016 to 2019.
“I absolutely loved teaching for The College, and I am thrilled to be back,” she expressed.
Rogers has served as the director of academic support at William Peace University for the past 6 years. She brings with her a familiarity and expertise in academic administration in addition to years of teaching experience.
John Burkett, assistant professor of rhetoric and composition at SEBTS, commented on Rogers’ hire, stating, “I’m excited that Dr. Deanna Rogers will be joining The College English faculty, having a background in American literature and composition pedagogy as well as expressing the Baptist theology, values and aspirations of Southeastern.”
As assistant professor of English at SEBTS, Rogers will begin teaching a variety of different courses, including composition II, American literature, world literature and studies in literary genre.
Rogers and her husband, Craig, have been married 25 years and have a son, Sam, who is a senior in college pursuing a degree in English. The family lives in Wendell, N.C., and are members at Wendell Baptist Church.
