Matt Ledbetter, pastor of Creeksville Baptist Church in Conway, N.C., will be nominated for vice president of the 2023 North Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference.
Terry Stockman, associational mission strategist for the West Chowan Baptist Association (WCBA), described Ledbetter as having a desire to “assist, encourage and resource the pastors of North Carolina.” Stockman intends to make the nomination during this year’s Pastors’ Conference Nov. 7-8, in Greensboro.
Ledbetter has pastored local churches for 23 years. He was second vice president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSC) in 2019 and previously served on the BSC’s board of directors. He is currently the Region One coordinator for the North Carolina state chapter of the Conservative Baptist Network and leads the WCBA pastor’s fellowship.
“While he has pastored smaller churches, every church has been ‘big’ in missions, giving and evangelism … There is no question Matt has a heart for the church, the lost and the Lord,” Stockman said.
According to BSC records, Creeksville gave $11,107 to the Cooperative Program in 2021, along with $2,335 to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, $5,019 to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and $3,237 to state missions. Creeksville was among the top givers to missions offerings within the WCBA.
In a statement to the Biblical Recorder, Ledbetter said his experience in leading pastors in three different associations “has been one of the great joys” of his life, and his term as a BSC officer allowed him to get to know pastors across the state. He regularly meets with younger WCBA pastors to encourage and mentor them.
“I want to see the state pastors’ conference continue its mission of encouraging pastors and their families as we come together each year for the annual meeting,” Ledbetter said. “I have enjoyed attending pastors’ conferences for 23 years now.
“From them I have received much encouragement, and if elected, I will work with the president to ensure the same.”
Ledbetter and his wife, Lana, have been married for 27 years. They have one daughter, a son-in-law and three grandchildren. He is a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible College and Liberty University.
