DALLAS, T.X. – Mission:Dignity recipients in North Carolina will receive an extra check — a 13th check — in 2023, thanks to churches in the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
North Carolina is the latest state convention to join with GuideStone to provide a check equivalent to one month’s honorarium to Mission:Dignity recipients within their state.
“Thanks to the generosity of North Carolina Baptists, we are grateful to be able to provide these additional funds to those in our state who have faithfully served the Lord throughout their lives,” said Todd Unzicker, executive director-treasurer of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. “North Carolina Baptists are thankful for our partnership with GuideStone and to be on mission together with them through ministries like Mission Dignity.”
In 2022, Mission:Dignity assisted more than 2,800 individuals with extra money needed for housing, food and vital medications. It also ensures a well-deserved dignity, independence and, often, the ability to continue serving the Lord. Last year, 139 pastors and their wives, or their widows, in North Carolina were served through Mission:Dignity
GuideStone President Hance Dilbeck expressed his thanks for the continued generosity of North Carolina churches.
“We’re on a mission to ensure that we enhance the financial security and resilience for those who serve the Lord,” said GuideStone President Hance Dilbeck. “It’s through the support of local churches, individuals and the work of our state convention ministry partners that we can assist these retired ministers and their families through Mission:Dignity. All of us at GuideStone are thankful for the generosity of North Carolina Baptists.”
Mission:Dignity expressed its thankfulness for the efforts of North Carolina churches.
“North Carolina Baptists have caught the vision for Mission:Dignity,” Mission:Dignity Director Aaron Meraz said. “We are thankful for their generosity, along with the many other states that have joined with us to assist the pastors and other church workers who served so faithfully—they are truly due a double honor for their service to the Lord.”
