The year 2025 is marked by five significant anniversaries for the Christian church and especially for Southern Baptists. Demonstrating God’s faithfulness in the lives of his people, these historical milestones also highlight the church’s rich confessional, ecclesial and missional heritage which Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) is honored to teach and to steward. To commemorate these significant moments, as well as its own 75th anniversary this year, Southeastern is releasing a new video podcast series entitled “Milestones.”
The church’s historical heritage, as witnessed by these milestones, is a testament to the preservation, practice, and proclamation of the faith once for all delivered to the saints. Throughout the “Milestones” series, Southeastern faculty and special guests will guide listeners in an examination of and reflection on the faith as highlighted through this historic year.
Over the coming months, the series will reflect on each of these milestones, first celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea followed by the 500th anniversary of both the memorial view of the Lord’s Supper and the recovery of believer’s baptism. The series will then reflect on the 100th anniversary of the Baptist Faith and Message as well as the 100th anniversary of the Cooperative Program (CP).
As a conclusion, the series will reflect on Southeastern’s connection to and participation in this Baptistic tradition and its role as an heir to this heritage, charged with the mission to equip students to serve the church and fulfill the Great Commission.
Southeastern’s 75th anniversary is cause to both celebrate and reflect on the foundation laid by the saints who have gone before. The milestones of this year have impacted the lives and ministries of countless believers, and they represent an inheritance of faith that Christians must strive to value, protect and pass on in their own churches and ministries.
As such, we ask that you join us in this celebration of history, heritage, and the enduring faithfulness of God as we reflect on these formative milestones in the history of the church. Every third Wednesday a new video podcast will be posted to this landing page and shared across our social media. We hope you will join us to be encouraged and enriched in your walk with the Lord as we together pass along the faith once for all delivered to the saints.
