MADISON, Wisc. (BP) — A Circuit Court jury cleared former Wisconsin pastor Robert Stine of sexual abuse charges on July 17. He faced two counts of sexual abuse against a minor.
Stine, 61, was indicted in August 2023, and pled not guilty. He had served at Midvale Baptist Church in Madison since 2007 and resigned in June 2023.
Stine’s attorney, Christopher Van Wagner, said in a statement to WISC-TV, “We are grateful the jury looked closely at the evidence and reached the right decision.”
Because of the charges, the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families revoked the license of the childcare center operating in the church’s building on June 28, 2023. It is unknown if the revocation will be reversed.
