Scott Hildreth discovered something shocking after publishing a book in 2018 on Southern Baptist missions. His name is shared by an author who writes pornographic material.
Hildreth was horrified to think people searching for his book online might find ungodly content. But then the opposite truth occurred to him, “The fact is that people who search [the other author’s] name can find my material.” So, Hildreth decided to write another book, called “Bondage and Freedom,” that is designed to help free people from addiction to pornography through faith in Jesus Christ.
“I pray that God would use it as a way to get His message of hope to people who are really struggling, who feel bound by a porn addiction or obsession that is controlling them,” Hildreth said in a YouTube video.
Hildreth is assistant professor of global studies and the George Liele director of the Center for Great Commission Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.
